BARENA: THE VENICE LAGOON, WHERE IT ALL BEGINS.
Barena is a family brand originating in Venice, Italy, launched by Sandro Zara in 1993. It offers ready-to-wear centered on menswear, and in 2008 Francesca Zara joined as creative director of the womenswear line. The brand takes a “fabric-first” approach to its work, developing materials and building designs from the Venice lagoon, local workwear, and archival patterns from the early 20th century. The result is everyday ready-to-wear that combines soft tailoring with workwear elements, produced mainly in Italy.

Concept

From tradition to contemporary — a fabric-first approach inspired by the Venice lagoon and traditional local workwear; collections are developed from unique fabrics and archival early-20th-century patterns.
