Overview

Jean Paul Gaultier Maille Femme is a knitwear-only diffusion line developed by the French maison Jean Paul Gaultier (designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who debuted in 1976). Mainly during the 1990s and 2000s, it released dresses and tops in mesh and stretch knit, with some pieces bearing production labels for the Italian knitwear manufacturer Fuzzi. Examples are held in museum collections. The line has since ceased the ongoing release of new designs and is now found mainly in the secondhand and vintage markets.

One of the derivative labels of Jean Paul Gaultier, this line can also be identified on product labels as “Jean Paul / Gaultier / Maille / Femme.” Centered on the “Maille” category, including knitwear and mesh, it served to connect the main offering, starting from the materials category, to everyday items. It is also sometimes listed as one of the diffusion lines.
