Overview

J.Crew Mercantile is a sub-brand launched in 2015 by the American company J.Crew Group (parent brand: J.Crew). Based on “value-driven” collections designed for J.Crew Factory, it aims to offer classic items for women, men, and children at affordable prices. In 2018, it opened a dedicated store on Amazon, but later that year an internal memo reportedly announced a streamlining of the lines and their gradual discontinuation. At the same time, there are cases in which products continued to appear under the “J.Crew Mercantile” name on Factory’s e-commerce site and in product listings.

J.Crew Mercantile was a derivative line announced in 2018, targeting a more affordable price range. In partnership with Amazon, it offered everyday wear and basics through a dedicated store. Introduced as an attempt to expand the brand’s price range, its gradual discontinuation was communicated internally in connection with a management review in the latter half of the same year, and its official standalone rollout has been halted.
