Overview

Mondi was a fashion brand founded in Munich, Germany, in 1967 by Helwig Zahm and Otto Brüstle. Starting with knitwear, it expanded primarily into women’s ready-to-wear, as well as sportswear, accessories, bags, fragrance, menswear, and other categories. It grew in Europe and the United States during the 1970s and 1980s, featured Christy Turlington in its advertising in the 1990s, and was also known for being worn by former Crown Princess Diana. After its operating company went bankrupt in 1999, the brand rights were transferred, and in 2005 Denis Lee acquired the worldwide trademark rights. The brand also developed derivative lines such as Mondi Sport.
