Overview

Needles Sportswear is a sportswear line derived from NEEDLES, a sub-line of NEPENTHES, a Tokyo-based select shop and brand. NEEDLES was founded by Keizo Shimizu in 1997. Track suits, track pants, and sports jackets are staples, and its signature butterfly embroidery is inspired by Steve McQueen’s tattoo in the film Papillon. The line offers products that combine vintage American elements with Japanese craftsmanship and is sold on an ongoing basis at NEPENTHES official stores and authorized retailers.

It features the brand’s signature butterfly embroidery on items such as track pieces. Its concept is distinct from Rebuild by Needles, which centers on deconstructing and reconstructing vintage garments, with Needles Sportswear serving the sportier side of NEEDLES.
