Richmond Denim is a denim line launched under his own name from 1987 onward by British designer John Richmond, who was born in Manchester. Rooted in London’s post-punk, street culture, and music, it is positioned as one of the main lines of John Richmond. In the early 2000s, it made its runway debut in Milan, and RICH jean became a symbol of the brand. Its creative philosophy is “Destroy, Disorientate, Disorder,” and it has developed around a combination of rebelliousness and refinement.

Richmond Denim is a derivative line developed by separating out John Richmond’s denim segment, and is described in available materials as a diffusion line. It translates elements rooted in the main brand’s rock influence into a denim-focused offering. Unlike separate lines aimed at younger customers, such as Richmond X, it has served to broaden the brand’s entry points around a material category.
