Overview

The Portland Collection by Pendleton was a contemporary line launched in 2011 by Pendleton Woolen Mills, based in Portland, Oregon, USA. Portland designers including John Blasioli, Nathaniel Crissman, and Rachel Turk took part in the line, which used the company’s wool fabrics and archive patterns as its foundation to offer U.S.-made men’s and women’s apparel and accessories. In later years, it transitioned to “PENDLETON COLLECTION.”

Concept

Pendleton engaged the designers to create a unique collection for the company that targets a contemporary consumer and exposes the brand to new specialty retailers.

Centered on the brand’s blanket patterns and textile archive, it reinterpreted womenswear, menswear, and accessories with more contemporary fits and color palettes. It was distributed separately from Pendleton’s traditional sales channels, such as its own stores and catalog, and was sold primarily through specialty stores. In later years, the line also set the course for its development and reorganization into the related “PENDLETON COLLECTION.”
