Overview

White Mountaineering is a Japanese fashion brand launched in Tokyo in 2006 by designer Yosuke Aizawa. Its guiding principle is that “every field where clothes are worn is outdoors,” and it centers on the fusion of design, practicality, and technology. The brand offers men’s and women’s apparel, as well as shoes, bags, accessories, and other items. Its lines include BLK, Repose Wear, W.M.B.C, and Wardrobe.

Concept

Making products by bringing design, practicality, and technology together in a single form, with an approach that does not yield to the market.

Sub-brands

  • BLK White Mountaineering 2009

A derivative line of White Mountaineering, its concept is “BLACK LAYER KNOWLEDGE,” and it is explicitly composed entirely of black. By combining patternmaking with high-spec materials, it serves to retain the parent brand’s outdoor context while committing to minimalist designs that eliminate color variety. In seasonal concepts, it is also positioned as a “technical wear line.”

  • White Mountaineering Wardrobe 2009

A derived line established within White Mountaineering to continuously supply basic items. The official store also displays a range of basic items separately as “Wardrobe,” organized mainly around regular items such as shirts, T-shirts, and pants. In contrast to the mainline, which has a stronger collection focus, it is positioned to build out staples for repeated everyday use, with an emphasis on materials and construction while keeping the designs simple.

  • White Mountaineering W.M.B.C. 2018

Announced as a new label launched by White Mountaineering from Fall/Winter 2018, this derivative line continues to feature W.M.B.C-related items in the official store. With camping and gardening among its themes of outdoor activities, it focuses on products that foreground outdoor and gear elements, and promotes collaborative projects with outdoor brands and others. While the mainline centers on apparel collections, this dedicated line extends the context into gear and practical equipment.

  • White Mountaineering Repose Wear 2020

As a derivative line/series proposed by White Mountaineering around the keyword “repose (rest),” it is offered through an official-store category called “Repose Wear.” Centered on relaxed silhouettes designed for ease of wear, it comprises items made with functional materials offering features such as quick-drying, UV protection, stretch, and washability. While maintaining the main brand’s focus on “design, practicality, and technology,” it is positioned as a line clearly intended for more off-duty occasions.

  • White Mountaineering Wair 2026

A derivative line announced as a new line of White Mountaineering, set to launch from Spring/Summer 2026, with a “Wair” category also featured on the official store. Centered on seamless knitwear, it is designed around comfort in wear, including lightness, breathability, and stretch, and was announced as a collection that allows for unisex, head-to-toe styling. Information available at the time of the announcement indicated a rollout beginning in February 2026. Within the brand, it is positioned as a knitwear-focused line that prioritizes comfort above all else.
