Overview

Eidos is a menswear lifestyle brand launched under Italian brand ISAIA. Antonio Ciongoli brought the concept to ISAIA and co-founded the brand in January 2013; it launched in autumn of the same year. Centered on blurring the boundaries between sportswear and tailoring, it offers a wide range of items, including jackets and trousers. The designs are created in New York and manufactured in Italy. Eidos is produced at ISAIA’s factory in Naples, as well as at the Michelangelo factory, located between Rome and Naples. The brand name comes from the Greek philosophical term eidos, and is said to connect ideas of “essence” and “reflection” with style and clothing. As its official website was not hosted, the brand was considered closed as of 2020.

Concept

The name Eidos is from Greek philosophy, meaning "the essence of something, what something really is," and is tied to the idea of "absolute truth" and that humans can only see a "reflection" of it—applied to style and clothing.

Eidos is a menswear offshoot line launched by ISAIA with Antonio Ciongoli in 2013, positioned to take ISAIA’s Neapolitan tailoring in a lighter, more casual direction. It blurred the boundary between sportswear and tailoring, with a lineup centered on jackets, denim shirts, knitwear, and relaxed chinos, and served within the brand as its younger, more everyday offering. Ciongoli left in 2017.
