ES.1 is a Japanese casualwear brand produced by DON Co., Ltd. that debuted for Fall/Winter 2024. Yuma Kakiuchi, who had been involved with DON—the company that operates TAION—since its early days, launched it as a product-design-focused project based on the community he had built over the years. The brand name comes from the company’s “Sales and Production Department 1,” reflecting its emphasis on a behind-the-scenes approach that places the product at the forefront. Centered on versatile casualwear, it incorporates archival designs and cultural sampling while pursuing a balance between quality and price. Ryujiro Tamaki joined as designer starting with 24AW, and the brand is developed around the concept “We want to energize stores across Japan!”
