Overview

GANT Rugger was a men's sub-line of the Swedish brand GANT, reestablishing in 2010 the Rugger lineage that began in 1973. Design was overseen by Christopher Bastin, and the line reinterpreted preppy American sportswear for the present, drawing on GANT's archives and vintage materials. Its positioning was described as “elegant, cool and urban,” and it was integrated into the main line for Spring/Summer 2019.

GANT Rugger, which began in 2010, was reconstituted as a derivative line that inherited GANT’s DNA while updating Ivy League-inspired preppy style in a more edgy direction. Under the House of Gant structure established in 2015, it became one of three pillars alongside GANT Originals and GANT Diamond G, and was distributed through various channels, including standalone stores. It occupied the brand’s most fashion-forward position and was integrated into GANT in 2019, ending its run as an independent line.
