Overview

GIU GIU is a knitwear brand launched in the United States in 2013 by designer Giuliana Leila Raggiani. Based in Los Angeles, it offers knitted garments and related items without restrictions on age or gender. Its signature line is the “NONNA” collection, which carries on the legacy of the Vaccaro turtleneck made by her grandmother, Palmira Zilia, and began with four hand-knitted pieces. Centered on simplicity, nostalgia, playfulness, and freedom, the brand connects its Italian family history with contemporary genderless and ageless design.

A sports-focused line extending into athletic uses

Giu Giu Sport is a sports-focused line introduced by GIU GIU in 2019 alongside its Resort

Giu Giu Sport is a sports-focused line introduced by GIU GIU in 2019 alongside its Resort 2020 collection. While GIU GIU's usual offerings center on everyday genderless knitwear, this line featured items suited to movement and athletic use, including swimwear, bike shorts, unitards, sports bras, and sweatshirts. It used technical yarns and materials designed with sweat and water in mind, while also incorporating graphic and streetwear elements. In contrast to the existing knitwear offering centered on NONNA, it was positioned as a derivative line extending the range of uses to exercise, dance, yoga, and meditation.
