The Original Surf & California Lifestyle Brand
HANG TEN is a lifestyle brand originating in surfwear, founded in 1960 in Seal Beach, California, by surfers Duke Boyd and Doris Moore. It began with surfboard shorts and has since expanded into casual wear such as T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, and denim, as well as related products. The brand name comes from “hang ten,” a surfing maneuver in which all ten toes extend over the nose of the surfboard, and its signature is a logo featuring two bare feet. Centered on the freedom of California, natural and simple design, and everyday wearability, the brand operates through licensing in countries around the world.

HANG TEN TEENS is a junior-focused line derived from HANG TEN, operated as a separate line in Korea since 2005. While the main brand offers everyday American casualwear for a broad range of people, including adults, the line primarily targets elementary and middle school students, with fit, materials, and ease of movement designed separately to suit growing bodies and activities at school, cram school, and on weekends. It adapts HANG TEN’s comfort for younger age groups and is officially positioned as the sub-brand responsible for the junior segment of the brand family.

HANG TEN GOLD was developed based on HANG TEN’s archives and roots in surf culture as a higher-priced line for specialty retailers, distinct from its regular casual line. When it was announced in 2002, it was positioned as a vintage reissue collection for young men, and from 2012 onward it was relaunched as a high-end version of the brand. It reconstructs the original stripes and specifications from the period, and is positioned for boutiques and select shops. In contrast to HANG TEN’s everyday line, it is an independent label focused on the brand’s past assets and the upper market.
