Overview

Helmut Lang Jeans is a denim line from Helmut Lang, developed by designer Helmut Lang. The parent brand Helmut Lang was established in Paris in 1986 (the designer is from Austria), and the jeans line was introduced in the Spring/Summer 1997 collection. Centered on minimalist denim inspired by vintage Levi’s and similar styles, it offers men’s and women’s denim products and became one of the brand’s major lines from the 1990s through the early 2000s. It later saw periods of hiatus and relaunch, as well as reissues through collaborations with other companies (e.g. UNIQLO).

A denim-focused offshoot line introduced in 1996. Centered on workwear-oriented items such as denim, khaki, and chinos, it systematically offered a product range distinct from the main collection under the Helmut Lang name. It was widely distributed through licensing and retail, and at one point held a commercially important position. Under Prada, the supply of jeans-related licenses was discontinued.
