PURELY MADE IN ENGLAND
JOSEPH CHEANEY & SONS is a British shoemaker founded in 1886 by shoemaker Joseph Cheaney in Desborough, Northamptonshire, England. Focusing primarily on men’s and women’s leather shoes and boots, the company carries out every stage of production at its own factory in the county, from pattern design, leather cutting and upper stitching to sole attachment and final polishing. With Goodyear welt construction and “PURELY MADE IN ENGLAND” at its core, it offers collections including the 1886 Collection and Country Collection. In 2009, it was acquired by the Church founding family and became independent, while continuing Britain’s traditional shoemaking heritage and expanding its sales network overseas.

Royal Tweed is a historical line that JOSEPH CHEANEY produced for the American market. The official Japanese website explains that the line, developed in 1974, used the 6184 last. Unlike current collection names such as the 1886 Collection and Country Collection, it can be identified as a line developed under a distinctive name for overseas markets. It has since been discontinued and held a derivative position aimed at the American market, distinct from JOSEPH CHEANEY’s regular lineup.
