CONCEPTUAL AND TIMELESS STYLE *
Maison Margiela is a French fashion house founded in Paris in 1988 by Martin Margiela and Jenny Meirens. Its offerings include women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, haute couture “Artisanal,” bags, shoes, leather goods, jewelry, and fragrances. The house has codes such as the white label, four stitches, numbering, and white paint effects, and became part of the OTB Group in 2002. Since 2012, it has retained the haute couture designation and upheld the principle of “the work of the group rather than of one designer.”

Maison Margiela Artisanal is a collection centered on production in the Maison’s atelier, with a focus on hand-crafted reconstruction, repurposing, and one-of-a-kind pieces. It has been presented in Paris’s haute couture calendar since 2006 and is characterized by a production process that reworks historical materials and existing garments through advanced hand techniques. It is clearly distinguished from ready-to-wear in terms of production methods and scale, and serves to convey the brand’s craftsmanship and conceptual expression.

MM6 Maison Margiela is the house’s second (contemporary) line, launched in 1997, and proposes an all-gender wardrobe centered on womenswear. While inheriting concepts such as the parent brand’s anonymity and reconstruction, it translates them into everyday wear through its own material treatments and transformed silhouettes, as well as accessories including shoes and bags. It occupies a position between the experimentation of the main ready-to-wear line and the atelier production of Artisanal.
