Overview

Tagline

MCQ is the first of its kind.
MCQ was a brand developed as the secondary/diffusion line of the British fashion house Alexander McQueen. Launched in November 2005, it offered denim-centered ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women aimed at younger consumers from Spring/Summer 2006. In 2010, Pina Ferlisi took on the line’s creative direction. It was subsequently revamped in 2020 as a fashion collective by an “ever-shifting creative collective” using blockchain. Each collection was treated as an “icon,” and the line was suspended in June 2022.

McQ developed under a 2005 licensing agreement as Alexander McQueen’s contemporary/lifesty

McQ developed under a 2005 licensing agreement as Alexander McQueen’s contemporary/lifestyle offshoot line, and from Spring/Summer 2011 onward it was overseen directly by the brand itself. In contrast to the main collection’s Savile Row-derived tailoring and theatrical expression, it was positioned to serve more everyday wardrobes and distribution. Kering’s 2019 disclosure also treated it as an independent contemporary brand. Sales were centered on wholesale, and it expanded through channels different from those of the core line.
