OPANAK is a rubber-shoe brand that began in 1935 in Pirot, southeastern Serbia. It is said to have started when shoemakers Mita Gaga and the Cekic brothers made rubber opanak designed for farm work. The brand offers rubber shoes based on traditional Serbian peasant footwear, and opanak production continues today at TIGAR in Pirot.
