Papillio is the feminine-focused sub-brand of German sandal brand BIRKENSTOCK. Launched in 1991, it was inspired by a French word meaning “butterfly” and is built around an aesthetic that symbolizes lightness and change. Its distinctive features include trend-driven colours and materials, contrasting colours and prints, and the retro look of wedge heels and platform soles. Each model uses a contoured footbed. Production takes place in Portugal.
