Overview

RCI Reserve is an upcycling project by REESE COOPER® designer Reese Cooper. At the Los Angeles studio, materials left over from recent sampling & production (including fabrics, linings, snaps, zippers, ribbing, eyelets, screens, yarn, etc.) are reassembled into new garments as an “ongoing project.” Each finished piece is accompanied by a handwritten label stating the material composition, its original use, its new use, and the completion date. The lookbook for Collection 1 was released in February 2023.

Concept

RCI Reserve is an ongoing project in which we up-cycle everything we’ve been keeping in the office for the past few years into new garments.

RCI Reserve, an abbreviation for REESE COOPER Reserve Program, was introduced in 2023 as an ongoing initiative that reuses surplus materials left at the office, such as fabric, lining, zippers, and ribbing, to reconfigure them into new garments. It follows rules that materials cannot be returned to the same use and that no new patterns are created. Each piece has a handwritten label recording the material’s origin, its new use, and the completion date. Unlike the main line and RCOS, it is developed as a special line that explicitly presents the brand’s circular practices.
