Rusty Experimental Division (R.E.D.) is a line derived from RUSTY. Founded in San Diego in 1985 by Rusty Preisendorfer, RUSTY is now based in Perth, Australia, and offers surfboards and surfwear. Under the concept “Future Classics,” R.E.D. reconstructs surf heritage from the 1980s to the 2000s using its archives, offering graphics and placement prints for people aged 17–25.

RUSTY EXPERIMENTAL DIVISION, abbreviated as R.E.D., is an experimental collection that references and reconstructs RUSTY’s heritage and archives. It is developed separately for men and women and presented in chapters such as Vol. XV, as a distinct category from the regular new releases and core collections. It spans graphic T-shirts, denim, board shorts, polos, shirts, and sweatshirts, and is positioned within RUSTY as a separate direction that foregrounds experimentation.
