Overview

Thomaston was a Japanese jeans brand for teenage girls launched by BOBSON in 1976. It was developed as a women’s offshoot of BOBSON, which was based in Okayama and had worked on domestically made jeans. The brand also ran a radio campaign featuring Ryudo Uzaki and the Downtown Boogie Woogie Band. In 1988, it was recorded as one of the women’s jeans brands categorized by age group. It is not included in the current official lineup and is treated as a historical brand.

Thomaston is a derivative brand launched by BOBSON in 1976 for women and teens. It was established to extend the main brand’s jeans to younger women, adding a clear age-specific entry point to BOBSON’s women’s lineup. In 1988, together with Elgar Funkel and others, it also played a role in proposing women’s jeans by age group. Unlike TOO-TOO, which targeted women including young married women, and MM-8, which centered on casual jeaning styles rather than age, Thomaston was a brand specializing in young women and teens.
