Overview

UpKnit is an upcycled knitwear line launched by FTC Cashmere in 2019. It reuses leftover yarn from FTC’s production process by joining the strands together, and offers mainly cashmere knitwear and accessories. Differences in the colors and lengths of the leftover yarn result in patterns that vary from one product to another, giving each piece a distinct finish. FTC states that this initiative has enabled zero-waste production by reducing the disposal of leftover yarn. FTC Cashmere was founded in Rosenheim, Germany, in 2003.

UpKnit is an upcycling line named “Upcycling for Uniqueness by FTC®,” which FTC launched in 2019. It connects yarn left over from regular collection production using its own techniques and uses it to make knitwear with individual variations in color and pattern, distinguishing it from FTC’s other lines, which are centered on materials and production methods. It is consistently introduced on the official website as FTC’s “UpKnit line” and is a spin-off line focused on reducing waste, alongside the regular women’s and men’s collections.
