Aran Woollen Mills is a knitwear brand founded in 1965 in Westport, County Mayo, in western Ireland, by Maura Hughes and her husband, Padraig. With Aran sweaters at its core, its range includes menswear, womenswear, unisex and kids’ clothing, homewear, accessories, and yarn. The brand produces traditional Aran knitwear and contemporary designs in Ireland. Its origins lie in Carraig Donn’s knitwear business, and it places importance on creating local employment, preserving Aran knitting, natural materials, and ethical sourcing. The Hughes family has operated the brand across generations, and it is a sister company of Carraig Donn.
