Dansko is a comfort footwear brand founded in Pennsylvania, USA, in 1990. Its founders, Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, established the company with the aim of bringing the comfort of clogs they had discovered in Denmark to the United States. Today, the brand offers footwear including boots and sandals, with classic clogs at its core. Its shoes are worn in everyday settings as well as in workplaces that require long hours of standing, such as restaurants and medical facilities. Dansko states that its products are developed in accordance with its values—individuality, responsibility for people and mother earth, and the pursuit of meaningful work—and products that meet the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) approval criteria carry the “APMA seal of Acceptance.” In 2012, it became a 100% employee-owned company through an ESOP.
