The Original Trouser Company
FARAH is a menswear brand founded in 1920 in El Paso, Texas, USA, by Lebanese immigrant Mansour Farah and his wife, Hana. It developed from workwear rooted in shirt manufacturing and was revived in Britain in the 1970s. Hopsack trousers and the F tab are its signatures, and the brand became associated with British subcultures including the Mods, rude boys, Casuals, and the indie scene of the 1990s. Today, it offers trousers at its core, along with shirts, polos, T-shirts, outerwear, and more, under the banner “The Original Trouser Company.” Its stated philosophy is to provide clothing that enables men to confidently create their own style.

Concept

Farah is all about providing men with the right clothes from which they can confidently create their own style.

A classic line within the Farah brand family, developed for customers of traditional British menswear and sportswear. While Farah Vintage is a contemporary lifestyle line aimed at millennials, Farah Classic primarily targets more traditional British consumers, particularly men aged 45 and over, and was positioned as a full sportswear collection for department stores. While Farah 1920 serves as an intermediary between the two, Farah Classic is a line that supports the brand’s enduring appeal and established customer base.

An independent line within the brand family, named after 1920, the year Farah was founded. Following the success of the 1920 commemorative collection, it was introduced in 2011 as a permanent range. Building on workwear-derived heritage, it combined slim silhouettes, tailoring, military elements, indigo-dyed fabrics, and patterned materials. In sales terms, it was treated as a sub-label bridging the traditional character of Farah Classic and the youth-oriented casual style of Farah Vintage, and continued to be developed throughout the 2010s.
