HANDEP is a social enterprise and craft brand founded in 2019 in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, by Randi Julian Miranda, who is of Dayak descent. It makes use of materials from local forests and forest gardens, collaborating with Dayak artisans to produce rattan bags, accessories, baskets, home décor, and more. Its philosophy is to reconnect Indigenous people with their land and forests and foster sustainable village economies guided by ancestral wisdom. The brand supports the continuation of traditional crafts while improving local incomes. Centered on handwoven rattan products, it also brings its goods to international markets.
Concept
To help reconnect indigenous Dayak people to their rich lands and forests, encouraging them to nurture their local resources while adding value to what they have, and economically grow together as a community by creating sustainable village economies that align with ancestral wisdom.
