Overview

Hermès Parfums is the fragrance division of Maison Hermès, founded in Paris in 1837 by Thierry Hermès. The maison’s involvement with fragrance dates back to the 1930s. In 1951, “Eau d’Hermès” was created, and perfume-making took shape as a new métier (new field) for the maison. Jean-Claude Ellena joined as its dedicated perfumer in 2004, and Christine Nagel later joined him in continuing to create fragrances. The range also expanded beyond perfumes to include bath products and home fragrances. Hermès fragrances are texts woven from the intangible, stories told on the skin.

Hermès’s fragrance domain, beginning with Eau d’Hermès in 1951. It encompasses several collections, including Parfums-Fondateurs and Parfums-Jardins, and Christine Nagel currently leads its creative work. While Beauty broadens the scope of cosmetic grooming, this core métier takes fragrance itself as its subject, translating the house’s memories and sense of materials into perfume.
