Island Slipper is a Hawaii-based slipper and beach sandal brand whose story began in 1946, when the Motonaga couple, Takizo and Misao, opened a factory in the Kakaako district of Honolulu, Hawaii. Handcrafted on Oahu, the brand aims to provide “the most comfortable and durable” wear, using materials from around the world while never compromising quality for price. It also works with materials and production techniques mindful of the environment and health, and cares about health, the islands, and the Earth. In the 1990s, it also became a fashion icon in Japan.
