KAPOK KNOT is a Japan-based sustainable fashion brand launched by Kisho Fukai in 2019. It uses “Ethical Down Kapok,” made from kapok, a natural material derived from tree seeds and processed using a special technique, and centers on lightweight, thin, warm outerwear while also offering home items. The brand’s concept, “Blur the line,” reflects an approach to making products that blurs boundaries between city and nature, producers and consumers, and old and new, connecting the value of each. Guided by the idea of “Farm to Fashion,” it aims to build a supply chain that takes the perspectives of producers, consumers, and the environment into account. The founder is Kisho Fukai, and the brand director and fashion designer is Kuniaki Mitsushio.

A thin kapok item from an ongoing joint project with KAPOK KNOT, apparently corresponding to a third installment. An innerwear/mid-layer-type product measuring approximately 3 mm and weighing approximately 300 g, promoting the warmth of down, was offered on Makuake, but its official name and release date remain unconfirmed.
