OAO is a Japanese footwear brand founded in 2019 by Takaaki Itagaki and Yusuke Takahashi. Shoe design is handled by Masaya Kushino, and the brand offers sneakers as well as sandals and leather shoes. Based in Tokyo and Kyoto, it champions “footwear for creators” and aims to balance the comfort required for urban life with designs inspired by art, architecture, and other influences. Its stated philosophy is “Experience for Humanity,” and it seeks to provide experiences that resonate with the senses and emotions through its products, supporting urban lifestyles that are enriching both physically and mentally. Its leather shoes are made by artisans in Tokyo and Osaka, and products made in Japan use Japanese leather.
