Turning trash into treasure.
Prada Re-Nylon is a sustainability project and collection announced on June 24, 2019, by the Italian fashion house Prada. It uses Aquafil’s ECONYL® regenerated nylon, made from marine plastic, fishing nets, and manufacturing offcuts, with the aim of replacing Prada’s virgin nylon with circular materials. It was first introduced as a capsule of six iconic bag styles and has since expanded to clothing, accessories, and footwear.

Concept

A cyclical, renewable supply chain creating sustainable regenerated nylon from discarded materials and products.

A continuing project and collection launched in 2019 to remake nylon, one of Prada’s signature materials, using recycled raw materials. Covering accessories and ready-to-wear, it has offered bags and clothing made with recycled nylon such as ECONYL. Since 2020, Prada has expanded this initiative to the direction of the brand as a whole, and from July 2023 onward, it shifted production of Virgin nylon to recycled nylon. The initiative serves to update established staple products through material innovation and a circular perspective.
