purr is a leather goods brand by Yuka Ushirokita, based in Kawanishi, Hyogo Prefecture. Ushirokita studied leather bag sewing while working as a company employee from 2003, and held her first solo exhibition in 2006. Focusing mainly on leather bags and small leather goods, she designs and sews with the properties of leather in mind, making and selling each piece individually in her atelier while envisioning the people who will use them. In 2010, she established Minami Seisakusho as a production base, and in 2021 began operating an atelier and shop in the same city. The brand name derives from the English word for the sound of a cat purring contentedly, and expresses the hope that people who carry its products will enjoy a pleasant day.
