FLO(A)TUS is a Japanese umbrella brand launched in May 2018 by Moonbat, a company headquartered in Kyoto City. Its range centers on rain umbrellas and folding umbrellas, and also includes all-weather umbrellas and parasols. The brand name is a coined word combining FLOAT, meaning “to float,” and LOTUS. The brand was developed with inspiration from water repellency that makes droplets roll off like lotus leaves. Its high-performance umbrellas are built around super water repellency achieved through micro- and nanostructures, and feature functions such as UV protection, light blocking, heat shielding, and wind resistance.
