PIONEERS OF AMERICAN OUTDOOR APPAREL
HOLUBAR is an outdoor brand founded in 1947 in Boulder, Colorado, USA, by Roy and Alice Holubar. It began by making down-filled sleeping bags and expanded into parkas, backpacks, tents, and climbing gear for mountaineering and camping. Centered on innovations such as lightweight nylon and down, as well as nylon-cotton blends, the brand developed products including Royalight and the Mountain Parka. Through supplying gear to mountain rescue teams and gaining widespread adoption in the U.S. market, it became known as a pioneer of American outdoor apparel. Following its acquisition by The North Face in 1981, it has been relaunched as a heritage brand carrying on its archive.
