Overview

Tagline

Flexibly surpassing industry standards
HYDRO-TECH SPORTS was a derivative line of HYDRO-TECH developed by Chiyoda, a chain of specialty shoe stores. Materials from 2006 described it as “ultra-high-performance walking sneakers” for everything from walking exercise and urban use to travel, and it was sold exclusively at Chiyoda-affiliated stores. Drawing on theories of biomechanics and sports medicine, the shoes featured functions including waterproofing, slip resistance, shock absorption, walking stability, and high flexibility. A new series was also announced in 2010, but the line is not listed in the current official collection.

Concept

Developed as “ultra-high-performance walking sneakers” informed by various theories of biomechanics and sports medicine, the line was designed for every walking occasion, from walking exercise and urban use to travel.

A HYDRO-TECH series for sports and active use. Official product offerings include models of walking sneakers equipped with multiple features, such as waterproofing and shock absorption. Unlike the leather-shoe-style business line and the specially designed WALKING series, it combines a sneaker shape with ease of walking during exercise, extending the brand’s functionality to more active everyday use.
