Overview

Indigo is a casualwear own-brand line launched in October 2009 by British retailer Marks & Spencer. Aimed primarily at women, it offered casual clothing designed for everyday wear, with denim at its core. At launch, M&S stated that its aims were to offer easy-to-wear outfit ideas suited to customers’ lives and to strengthen its casualwear range. Its phase-out was announced in the 2017 annual report, and it was removed from the company’s brand list in 2018.

Indigo was a sub-brand within M&S womenswear focused on denim and casualwear. Unlike M&S Collection, which centered on staple wardrobe items, and Per Una, which was reorganized around feminine prints and soft tailoring, Indigo focused on fashion-oriented denim and casualwear. It was discontinued as part of a reorganization to simplify product selection and the brand portfolio; M&S stated that in 2018 it streamlined several womenswear brands, including this line. It is not a current independent product line, but a former M&S womenswear sub-brand.
