A new kind of WRAP CLOTH that protects you and your clothes from dirt and viruses
LAUTREAMONT W is a line of KAPPOGI garments designed to protect clothing from dirt and viruses, developed by Java Corporation, based in Kobe. W stands for “WRAP,” meaning to wrap, and the garments are presented as WRAP CLOTH that envelops the wearer over their clothes. Launched in 2021, the line is positioned as one-mile wear, for everything from housework to responding to unexpected visitors.

Concept

The W in LAUTREAMONT W stands for “WRAP,” meaning to wrap. The garments stylishly envelop the wearer over their clothes. An apron that covers only the front cannot fully protect against dirt and viruses. In response to the aims of protecting clothing from dirt and preventing viruses from outside, the traditional Japanese kappogi, valued for its functionality, was redesigned for modern use. The result is LAUTREAMONT W’s WRAP CLOTH.

A function-focused line derived from LAUTREAMONT in 2021, with “W” standing for “WRAP.” It gave form to the idea of protecting clothes from dirt and viruses by reinterpreting kappogi, a traditional Japanese garment, in a modern way. It debuted in fall 2021, followed by a second unisex edition in 2022. As new workwear designed to make housework more enjoyable, it serves to extend the main LAUTREAMONT into the areas of clothing protection and household chores.
