Overview
Magnu is a Japanese leather brand founded in 2007 by designer Takuya Ito. Centered on bags, it offers leather goods such as wallets, and in 2026 it also launched its leatherwear line, “Magnu・Chic.” After working as an apparel designer at Miyake Design Studio and Issey Miyake, Ito became independent and drew on his experience in clothing design for the planning and design of bags. He works with craftspeople to consider materials, construction, and sewing, aiming for forms that are easy to use regardless of gender. The brand name is a coined word combining “Manu,” the protagonist of a French film, and the African water buffalo gnu.

Magnu・Chic 2026
Magnu・Chic is a leatherwear line launched by Magnu, which had primarily developed bags, drawing on designer Takuya Ito’s experience in apparel design and his encounter with leather materials. Following test sales, it officially launched in 2026. While Magnu itself focuses mainly on bags and leather accessories, the line offers clothing such as leather cardigans and jackets. It is positioned as a line that carries forward the parent brand’s approach to craftsmanship while taking on an apparel domain distinct from bags.
