NEEDBY heritage is a Japanese denim brand founded in 2023. Centered in Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese denim, it handles everything from spinning and fabric production to sewing, with the aim of preserving the traditions and techniques of Japan’s denim industry and passing them on to the next generation. It seeks to improve production efficiency through USED processing techniques and stone washing while reducing unnecessary chemicals and water, and to protect a sustainable denim industry. It also offers the luxury line “THE VINTAGE.”
Concept
Workwear dating back to the 1800s, for everyone who will shape the times ahead. NEEDBY heritage is a coined name combining “NEED,” meaning necessary, and “Heritage,” meaning legacy or tradition. Denim is a basic, timeless staple. For that very reason, its character changes with the wearer and the times, bringing out the wearer’s individuality at that moment to the fullest. There is no right or wrong; each person’s NEEDBY heritage is unique.
