Overview
Nike ISPA is an experimental design line and design philosophy first introduced in November 2018 by Nike, the US-based sports brand. Its name derives from the initials of “Improvise,” “Scavenge,” “Protect,” and “Adapt.” Centered on solutions to challenges urban dwellers face in built environments, it offers footwear and apparel. It develops products that emphasize functionality and practicality by reconfiguring Nike innovations and existing technologies.

Nike ISPA is an experimental line based on the design principles of Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt, translating challenges related to urban residents’ mobility, weather, storage, disassembly, and resource use into products. While Nike’s regular performance products pursue clearly defined performance for specific sports, ISPA tests modular construction, distinctive ways of wearing, material reuse, and designs that can be disassembled to address the complex problems that arise in urban environments. In contrast to ACG, which focuses on natural environments, and ESC, which emphasizes tailoring and materials, ISPA is positioned as the most direct expression of Nike’s design exploration and functional experimentation.
