Trust your pain
NineMicrophones is a Japanese brand launched in 2010 by K (Kei Goto), vocalist of Pay money To my Pain. Its slogan is “Trust your pain,” meaning “believe in your own pain.” The brand is guided by the idea of continuing to stand on stage, carrying everything, to awaken the joy, sadness, anger, affection, and souls of those whose spirits have been constrained and freedom taken away by rationalization. Its apparel includes T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and caps.

Concept

People whose spirits are constrained and freedom taken away by rationalization, in a world overflowing with miscellaneous things, carry within them everything: joy, sadness, anger, affection, and soul. NineMicrophones is a brand created by K of Pay money To my Pain to awaken these things, with the idea of continuing to stand on stage carrying everything. Drawing on the memories of skateboarding, punk, and American culture that form K’s background as sampling sources, the brand creates clothing for K and his companions from his own worldview. In an age of information overload, rather than opaque clothing imposed on them, the brand has a real and distinctive atmosphere, completed through the feelings of those who choose what to wear of their own free will. Its pieces are made through uncompromising craftsmanship, with close attention to what K wants to wear and to those who wear the clothes, and are imbued with that spirit. NineMicrophones is created through a resolute will, grounded in a belief in the wearer’s “evolution.”
