Stand Out From The Crowd
Nutmeg Mills is a sports apparel brand founded in the United States in 1980 by brothers Marty (Martin) and Dick (Richard) Jacobson. It expanded from college sports into licensed products for professional sports, including the NBA, and became known for T-shirts and sweatshirts featuring team logos and player graphics. It was sold to VF Corporation in 1994 and later integrated into one of the company’s divisions. It has now relaunched as a limited offering based on its archive, and is also offered in Japan as NUTMEG’s basicwear line.

Concept

NUTMEG MILLS is the body line in NUTMEG’s current lineup, focusing on basic, unprinted wear. While the parent brand reinterprets 1980s and 1990s American sports culture and vintage graphics for the present, this line centers on understated everyday clothing, such as T-shirts made with USA cotton. It carries forward the spinning, knitting, and sewing expertise developed by Howard, and is characterized by the dry feel of open-end yarn and durable materials. It has a distinct role from NUTMEG ATHLETIC DEPT., which adds expression through treatments, prints, and licensed projects; within the group, NUTMEG MILLS supports the core range of materials and garment bodies.
