For example, black-and-white photographs by Robert Doisneau and scenes from Italian films of the 1950s and 1960s provide the imagery and backdrop, such as fishermen in northern France or farmers in southern Italy. Its sources are limited to things kept in the designer’s own mental archive since childhood, rather than things inspired by the present day.
