Overview

BURBERRY BLACK LABEL was a menswear line launched in 1998 by Sanyo Shokai for the Japanese market under a licensing agreement with British Burberry. It offered clothing such as suits and coats, as well as bags and accessories, primarily through department stores. Following the end of the licensing agreement in June 2015, its development as “BURBERRY BLACK LABEL” ended with the Spring/Summer 2015 season, and it transitioned to the successor brand “BLACK LABEL CRESTBRIDGE.”

A local derivative line for men in Japan

A local derivative of Burberry operated by Sanyo Shokai for the Japanese market, Black Lab

A local derivative of Burberry operated by Sanyo Shokai for the Japanese market, Black Label functioned as a separate label tailored to demand among Japanese men. It was separated from Burberry’s global collections, and under its licensing arrangement with Sanyo Shokai, Blue/Black Labels were organized as a system that did not use the Burberry name. Independent operations ended with the restructuring of the Japanese business in 2015.
