Overview

Party People was an original brand launched in 2009 as part of kitson's operations in Japan. It was carried at the first kitson store in Japan, a select shop originating in Los Angeles, and offered apparel and accessories, primarily for women. Its brand concept was “frequently worn real clothes for party people living happy lives,” and it proposed items for everyday wear. In 2010, it launched Joelgreen, a line for adults, but the brand has since been discontinued following the end of kitson's retail business in Japan.

Party People was a casualwear line developed as an original brand by Kitson. Major media coverage and press materials concerning Kitson’s operations in Japan indicate that it was treated as a Kitson original brand, separately from the sale of selected products, and focused primarily on apparel suited to everyday wear. Rather than Kitson’s store-exclusive products and accessories, it took on the role of developing apparel that prominently featured the brand name, and was positioned within the brand family as the line that later became the parent line of Joelgreen.
