PIENI is a Japanese bag brand launched in Finland in 2018 by designer 虻川晫也. Drawing on experience gained at a domestic saddlery manufacturer, it offers bags and leather goods. Its approach to making products minimizes materials, processes, and design, incorporating inspiration from Finland’s natural environment and saddlery design techniques.
Concept
The concept is to express everything minimally: to create products with minimal materials, processes, design, specifications, and saddlery techniques, and to consider what to express and what to resonate with against the backdrop of Finland’s great outdoors. “Nature is not something to overcome, but to make use of.” Beyond that, PIENI has nothing else to do; this is what PIENI should do.
