Overview

Relier81 is a Japanese upcycling fashion brand founded by Daichi Tajiri in Kyoto in 2018. Using unused kimonos and obi, the brand offers women’s shoes as its main product, along with bags, apparel, and other items, and is committed to production by Japanese artisans. The brand name embodies the idea of connecting Japan and the world. Its philosophy is to adapt the forms of kimonos and obi to suit the times, thereby passing traditional culture and artisans’ skills on to the next generation.

Concept

The concept is to adapt their forms to the spirit of the times so they feel more familiar, while preserving Japanese traditions and culture, and artisans’ skills, for years to come.
