SHINARI is a new line of leather sneakers and comfort shoes launched by MOONSTAR in 2021. It focuses on long-established shoemaking techniques at MOONSTAR’s Saga factory and was developed around the concept of “seeking quality through the properties of materials and design, rather than adding something.” The DUS (Direct Urethane Soaling) method forms and bonds liquid sole material, fitted closely to the shape of the foot, through a chemical reaction, creating a sense of unity between shoe and foot. The designs incorporate elements drawn from MOONSTAR’s archives and Japanese footwear.
