Smart.J Auto is an electric folding umbrella line in the UVION umbrella series developed by Tokyo Maruso Co., Ltd., founded in 1949. Launched in 2017 as Japan’s first rechargeable electric-opening and closing umbrella, it features a lithium-ion battery and fully automatic opening and closing at the touch of a button, operable with a single thumb. It is officially positioned as the “world’s first fully automatic folding umbrella” and was developed around the convenience of one-handed operation and the safety of being able to stop the mechanism to avoid collisions. The second generation also includes reverse-folding and all-weather models, and the line is still sold as part of UVION’s product range.
